The Black Men’s Mental Health Summit, hosted by Albert Hull, was more than a virtual event. It was a call to action, a sanctuary of truth, and a platform for collective healing. With a lineup of distinguished panelists, community leaders, and licensed professionals, the summit created a space where vulnerability wasn’t just accepted—it was honored.

Breaking the Silence

The summit began with a powerful keynote led by Albert Hull and Bishop Moore, setting the tone with a unified message: it’s time to break the stigma. Kenellias Smith grounded us with a deep reminder of the summit’s purpose, emphasizing that caring for one’s mental health is not a weakness but a necessary act of strength.

From there, the conversation unfolded into topics too often left unspoken in our communities: trauma, anxiety, depression, emotional repression, and the societal pressure to "be strong" at all costs.

The Power of Story and Solidarity

Our panelists, including James Harris (Licensed Therapist & Author of Men to Heal), LC Lawrence, Clearance Massey, Julius Brown, and Dr. Ray Miller, PhD, brought more than their credentials. They brought their stories.

They shared personal struggles and professional insight into how we can begin unlearning the emotional silence that plagues so many of us. From practical coping strategies to open dialogue about masculinity and vulnerability, attendees were left with something rare in virtual events: real tools for real change.

Participation Was Personal

One of the most impactful parts of the summit was audience participation. Live polls, Q&A sessions, and breakout rooms gave men the opportunity to engage, not just listen. Brothers from across the country asked bold questions, shared reflections, and committed to a future where mental health is a priority, not an afterthought.

Healing Doesn’t End Here

The summit concluded with a call to action: What will you do moving forward? For some, it meant reaching out to a therapist. For others, it meant checking in on a friend. And for many, it meant no longer suffering in silence.

We left with not only insight, but a renewed commitment to each other and ourselves.

Next Steps

A resource packet with therapist directories, journal prompts, and wellness exercises has been sent to all attendees. Ongoing virtual check-ins are being organized to keep the momentum going. Follow-up workshops focused on emotional resilience and building support systems will be announced soon.

Final Thoughts

The success of this summit was not measured in numbers, but in the courage shown by those who attended, and the brilliance of the men who led. Together, we created a space where healing became possible.

And we’re just getting started.

Stay connected. Stay grounded. Stay open.
